North is the guiding star from MOON

Loud & Clear in house favourite MOON has just launched its brand new, ground up designed North Collection: a six-strong range of stunning looking hi-fi separates – jam packed with new technology and designed to deliver class-leading high-performance audio.

The North Collection comprises three levels: 600 series (681 music streamer with DAC and 641 integrated amplifier), 700 series (791 streaming preamplifier and 761 power amplifier) and the reference pairing of the 800 series (891 streaming preamplifier and 861 power amplifier).

Every product is designed and manufactured in-house at MOON’s HQ in Montreal, Canada, just as it has for the last 40 years.

First to arrive is 700 series with the 791 streaming preamplifier at £16,000 and 761 power amplifier at £14,000, which are now available for demonstration.

The MOON 791 Network player and preamplifier has 7 digital inputs, 3 analogue and also includes HDMI Arc – it is capable of providing a fixed or variable output with the onboard MDE2 DAC supporting resolutions up to 32/384 and DSD 256.

Strikingly clear OLED colour screens feature on four of the products in the North Collection. These displays showcase artist names, track listings, album cover art in detail, and can display full volume and setup menus.

MOON 791 is fully Roon Ready with the MiND2 network player, supporting Bluetooth and AirPlay 2. it also has a “super quiet” phono stage which supports moving magnet and moving coil cartridges with real-time configuration via the menu system.

The 791 also comes with MOON’s new BRM-1 Intelligent Remote Control. A beautiful piece of design that makes controlling the 791, with its buttery smooth rotating volume control, a joy.

The partnering MOON 761 power amplifier can deliver 200w into 8 Ohms, doubling into 400W into 4 Ohms and can also be run in Mono configuration.

The 761 echoes the styling of historical products, but with some softer edges and a more rounded style – the appearance is authorative but also quite sophisticated.
